In this first post I want to explain why I choosed Copenhagen to do an Erasmus Programme and my expectations for the International Course.
The last February I traveled to Copenhagen for the first time with people from the University to visit an institution. I had not ever raised Copenhagen as a possible travel destination but I had been in the city for five days and I liked it too much. The idea of doing an Erasmus, was been in my mind for so long but just as a possibility. I started to think about the idea, talking with family and friends too and I took the decision to make it real.
I think that the erasmus is a challenge: be in a new country, far away from your family and friends, talk and understand the language that personally I don't use to talk,... but it's an opportunity too: meet new people, know different experiences, know new places, new ways of life and thinking,etc.
The International Course at Frøbel will be an opportunity to grow in a personal way, like persons and professionals. Be a person and a professional working with people cannot be separated. I think that this experience would help me to test my personal abilities as well as to increase my professional knowledge as a social educator.
On the one hand, for my personal growth, it would bring me the opportunity to share this experience with different people around Europe, know new people; being in contact with different cultures and ways of living and also to get some fresh air. It would be an opportunity to taste a little part of Copenhagen and to improve my English language skills.
On the other hand, as a future social educator, it would help me to expand my own study perspectives, stimulate my thinking; to see different social realities that it would bring me strategies and abilities for my future job, it would give me experience. See how the social educators work in other countries around Europe and see different projects too.
During my time at university, I realized that I want to increase my knowledge, strategies and abilities skills in social education in order to work with children, youth or adults; I think that this Course will give me the opportunity to learn more about pedagogy and how to work with children and young people.
I hope that this four months give us the oportunity to make real all what we desire from this expirience, and at the moment I think that it can be :).
